Facebook Like button not rendering

andy.spenceley Feb 22, 2012 05:23AM EST

Hi,

We are running AddThis on our site and using the Facebook Like, Tweet, and G+ buttons. The Facebook Like button has recently stopped rendering. Web Inspector shows that the fb:like tag is inserted but this is not rendered.

We have the correct Facebook meta in the html tag. xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml"

I have also tried turning off the asynchronous request parameter with no luck.

Is there any known issue with the Facebook Like button you know of?

An example link is http://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/discounts/asda.co.uk. We have multiple instances on the same page, but look on the right hand side under the Asda logo for one instance.

Seems this was related to Facebook Connect. We had a Facebook Connect library which we removed from the code, but oddly putting this back in worked.

Is there any known conflicts/issues with having Facebook Connect and AddThis Facebook Like buttons existing on the same page?

I'm not aware of any issues with Facebook Connect, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were issues. To render our Facebook Like button we simply insert the appropriate Facebook Like button code inside the button. Do you know if this happens when you're using the Facebook Like button from this URL? https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/

Hi Paul,

I checked that page and it appears to be OK.

The initial fix that I thought has solved the problem hasn't as the comment box that appears when you click on the Facebook Like button fails with a cross domain JS error: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL.

I will continue to look into it.

Seems like the issue was down to a locally hosted version of the Facebook connect library. Changing to the Facebook connect script (asynchronously) seems to have solved it.

I still face the problem. It even shows it wrongly when I tried to fetch code through menu "GetAddthis"
